We were afraid this would happen and I'm extremely annoyed. As far as I'm concerned, it's just greed. We've agreed to do one more bid and either they take it, or we walk. We have time and there are other houses out there.

People suck.

And I have to go pack... I'm trying to get at least one box a day done and then we'll have a big push this weekend to clean up and get ready to have our house listed and showing.

We had a thing like that going with the folks I called The Picky People who wanted to buy our house. We were $5K apart and they wouldn't budge (and that was at the point of splitting the difference between our original price and their lowball first offer, which was almost $20K under what we'd listed the house for!). A little negotiation is expected, but if it takes you more than a couple of rounds to come to terms, you're in trouble.

The Picky People had looked at more than 80 houses and ours was the first one they bid on. They looked another 20 or 30 more before they bought one totally unlike ours. I was glad they didn't buy ours because they'd have nickled and dimed us to death!

Here's hoping your sellers are reasonable and not Picky People.

I honestly don't know... As things stand there was one additional round, and then Brian and our agent chatted and apparently Olga had pestered the selling agent until the woman gave her the information we wanted: we weren't the highest bid. So Brian added a little more and Olga resubmitted. We find out today.

If they accept we have 5 days to do an inspection, but we have two friends who do that for a living, one for insurance companies and one for private owners, so that we have covered and if they find anything wrong we will be taking that out of the price!

It does look like a nice house. But nothing is worth going bankruptcy...and there are other fish in the sea.

Good fish.

We shall see. I've seen other houses I've liked, none quite like this one, but other houses will come on the market.
